Hi everybody. Welcome to the blog where I talk about the present.
I guess we’re all presently pretty much staying at home. It’s nothing new to me. I’ve been like this for 10 years. Memories keep me going. I’ve always had great luck with the real estate. For example, the house I built in Montauk, New York, I turn to my left and see endless treetops and the ocean and the sky. When I lived in Australia, I would also be able to turn to the left and just see ocean and sky. When I lived in Paris, I would look straight ahead and see tile rooftops, chimneys and the sky. I was in the middle of Paris, but it was quiet as a mouse. All I’d hear were church bells and the birds. Now I live in a little stone cottage at the side of the road. Cool.
I’m still trying to get used to having a live-in health aide. It’s tough. People often say, what’s the difference between a shift worker and a live-in. Well a live in stays here, eats, cooks, showers. It’s basically like having a roommate. I guess it’d be ok if you had a big house where they would have their own ensuite bathroom, but I’m not really set up for that. Plus my daughter might come. That would be awkward. Anyway, one day at a time, right?
You know what’s interesting. When I had to pay for private homecare, a little earlier, I had no problem getting people because I paid them as they should be paid. But going through an agency seems real difficult to get someone. The pay is so low. That, plus the Covid going on, makes things difficult. Bottom line is: Don’t get sick, and for that matter, definitely don’t get old and sick. My friend said, “What? We should all check out at 65?” No there’s got to be a better way. Let me think about it. There’s not much else to do.
This is B. Nice signing off. A friend wants to get a photograph made, so I’m gonna go work on that.
Love, B. Nice
